Dear Fabulous Friend!
If you are receiving this, you must be somebody special! You’ve probably been to a Fabulous in February party, or it’s precursor January Blues. In fact, my annual celebration of fabulous friends was due to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2016.
But what makes all of you so special – and why you are on this list of fabulous women - is your friendliness, your warmth and your generosity of spirit! So I know you will understand why I have chosen to do things a little differently this year.
I’m sure many of you have been affected by the current economic downturn. And while a party with wonderful women can certainly lift the spirits, there are far too many Calgarians suffering significant hardship, and who are having a tough time putting food on the table for their families at this very moment.
This year, in recognition of the extraordinary circumstances in which so many people find themselves, I’ve decided that money usually spent on fabulous food and Shameful Sharma’s will instead be donated to the Calgary Food Bank at the end of February.
Every $1 received in cash donations purchases $5 of food. So by giving up just one really amazing party, I can feed 34 Calgary families of 4 for a whole week! You can help as well! If you donate even the price of that fine bottle of wine you would usually bring to the party, it will go to helping those who need it most.
I think that’s money well spent, and I’m sure you do too.
In the meantime, let’s all continue to stay in touch, enjoy each other’s company, and hope that 2016 brings better fortune for everyone.
