Growing up, I have lived in just about every situation imaginable: from a small apartment above a halfway house as a toddler, to a two bedroom trailer in a city not so accepting of minorities (Ionia, Mi - Ironic eh? I-own-ya... SMH)
Later graduating to your average "middle class family," then plummeting back down to what many may deem "poverous."
But I am still smiling, because that is what you have to do!
As a child, I watched my mother never give up, consistently strive to do everything she could for us kids, and succeed.
She also encouraged me to chase my dreams and never give up!
This leads me to why I am here.
Many know me through at least one the three weekly shows I host in Michigan.
Over the past two years the amount of people following and supporting what I do has grown immensely, which is both humbling and mind blowing!
But, local support isn't the only thing us creative minds need to truly spread our wings and expand our horizons!
We need to travel, to learn, grow, experience all that other art scenes have to offer so we can then pass that knowledge to others, and also use it to grow as artists ourselves!
We do this so we can potentially be lucky enough to be heard and enjoyed by others, or possibly truly touch someone in a life changing way.
This is why I am going on a 10 week, 12 state, 40+ show tour!
(I will also be a keynote speaker durring Mental Health Americas Annual Confrence in Alexandria Virginia!)
I will be traveling all the way from Louisiana to New York hitting every state along the way, every week, for over 10 weeks starting May 2015!
By July of 2015, I wish to be able to have documented my journey through video, afford transportation for travels, housing, and be able to eat while on the go.
My ideal goal is $10,000 which will be spent on the following:
Car & Insurance: $4,000
Gas: $1,000
Food: $1500
Hotel Funds: $1,000
Maintanance/Oil Changes etc: $500
CDs, Books, and other Merch: $1,200
(Any additional money raised or made will be put twords future tours/video/NACA Talent Agency Dues, etc.)
I hope to be able to make a small documentary includng all of the people I meet, the venue owners, local business owners, as well as bring along my new audio project with me as well!
So for this, I will need a couple cameras, as well as additional funding for CD's, and extra capital for memory cards, batteries, an external hard drive etc.
P.s. IF you have a business willing to sponsor this venture, I will include your branding and information on all of the videos!
Each week, I will be blogging and keeping all donors posted through my website (www.MindOfFable.com) to ensure you all that the funds raised through this campaign are being used honestly.
(It might take over a week for the videos to be edited etc, so please bare with me and our editing team.)
