There's No Place Like Home!!

As I’m sure you know, this has been a crappy year for me so far: I lost my apartment of 8 years when the building was sold to developers, I had to cancel the first vacation I had planned in 3 years, I had to drop-out of the two shows that I was cast in due to scheduling issues… the list goes on and on…

Talking to my bestie, Michael, we tried to figure out “what’s next?”, and we both realized that the one thing I did NOT want was to stay in Houston: I have been unable to find an apartment for the last five months (and probably won’t anytime soon), and while I loooooove my job at the theatre, I don’t make anywhere near enough money, so I’m forced to kill myself working a second job that I don’t really like. When Michael asked me “What do you WANT to do?” the answer was obvious: I want to go home. To Buffalo. That’s all I’ve wanted for the last few years now. And everyone keeps telling me “If you want to find a job in Buffalo, you have to live in Buffalo”. So I spoke to an old friend who works at the front desk of the Hotel Lenox, a beautiful old Buffalo hotel built in 1896 that F. Scott Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Henry Fonda and Harry Belafonte all lived in at one time or another, and I can rent a suite of rooms (and they take dogs!!) there beginning in mid-October. Michael will drive me and Isabel north in a rental car, and I’ll ship my stuff via uBox or some other method. I am coming there without a job (though I have applied for a few things already from here), but I figure that I can find some sort of restaurant or retail work right off the bat until I can find something more substantial. I’m hoping that once I’m local, I’ll actually be able to find that great WNY job that has eluded me these past couple of years.

So this is where you come in: I need help. Asking for help is not an easy thing for me to do, but in this case, it’s really necessary. Moving cross-country is an enormous expense, from renting a car to shipping my possessions, etc etc etc… So I’m hoping that I can “get by with a little help from my friends” (and family). If you can help me realize my dream of moving home, it would be more appreciated than you can even imagine. Isabel and I sincerely thank you… without your support, this would never be possible. And hey: we’ll see you soon, Buffalo! I can’t wait to see my dog play in the snow!!
