FA Studios

We are Female Allstars, a collective of female Grime/Hip-Hop artists from the U.K. Due to being a part of the music industry for a long time, we have first-hand experience of abuse, ulterior motives, disrespect and inappropriate situations from working with males in positions of power, which stemmed from them “offering us help” and being able to “further our careers”. This is unacceptable, no womxn should ever feel distressed or worried whilst trying to create or further their careers, especially at the hands of people who are veiling their abusive tactics with false support. This led to the creation of FA Studios. This will be a safe space for all womxn within the creative industry, where they can grow and excel within their chosen creative venture. Getting your foot in the door in a male-dominated scene can be difficult, and we have the experience and knowledge to bypass the difficulties to see success. We have already started our journey, with self-purchasing studio and visual equipment (e.g. microphone, lighting, backdrops, a Mac for recording along with the correct programs, a professional camera, and more). The donations from this page will go towards putting a deposit down on a studio area and the last few bits of equipment we need, so we can set up and complete building FA Studios. The final goal is to create the #FAFoundation, an institution which is devoted to the development of womxn artists within the UK music scene, through training, advocacy and access to specialist equipment. We would like a two-room space: one room for the studio and the other to be used as an office set-up, where we will teach graphic design, visual editing, creative writing, PR skills and more. The team behind the foundation consist of FA members: Lady Shocker, Miz, Frankie StayWoke, NyNy and DJ Kaylee Kay Each member has a wide, varied skill-set which will be used to assist other womxn within the industry. Lady Shocker (Founder, Studio Manager) - Once the studio is established, Shocker will be in charge of the day-to-day runnings of the studio, from booking schedules to recording sessions, and will also be running classes to teach audio recording and visual filming skills. Frankie Staywoke (Graphic Designer, Marketing Manager) - Frankie will be teaching graphic design, as well as being in charge for all of the Foundations designs. She will also be in charge of social media marketing. Miz (Admin Manager, Liaison Officer) - Miz will be teaching the PA/PR side of things, for example: how to reach out to DJs, how to write professional emails, how to create press releases and artist bios, music legalities, whilst also taking care of the admin for the Foundation. NyNy (Office Administrator, Studio Supervisor) - NyNy will be running the day-to-day Foundation admin with Miz, helping with the studio and also running modelling classes to teach women how to be comfortable in front of the camera. DJ Kaylee Kay (In-House DJ) - Kaylee Kay will host weekly DJ’ing classes, where womxn can learn the basic of DJ’ing various genres. A combination of these aspects will help womxn with their confidence, their overall knowledge of the industry and give them a safe place to evolve and grow their artistry.
