Help Support Penny During Recovery

Hi, my name is Penny and I'm donating a Kidney to my good friend Tauna.  And this isn't my story as much as its hers.  She is a strong woman, a loving Mother and Wife.  She is a great friend who is always there for you, even on her worst days.  With everything she has been through, she manages to remains positive in her thinking. 

So I'm still donating a kidney, whether we reach the goal or even recieve $0.   But here's why I could use your help.

My husband and I started saving money before we even knew if I would be a match. That way we would financially be okay while I took off work to recover.  If I wasn't a match, we were going to use the money to finally go on a family vacation.  Well as it's want to do, Life happens.  Between my husband needing knee surgery and surgery to repair a hernia, vehicles needing repairs, and now him not working and recieving workers comp, everything we've saved has been eaten up. 

Part of my goal amount covers my wages for 3 weeks.  While I know that statistically most people return to work in 2 weeks, I am giving myself another week because I work a 12 hour shift with a 1.5 hour drive each way.  This requires me to be able to function normally and without pain medicine for at least 16 hours a day.  

The transplant surgery will be taking place 2 states away from where I live.  While that may sound really far away its really only a 2.5 hour drive.  But the surgeon wants me to stay closer to the hospital for at least a week after surgery, just in case.  Also a 2.5 hour trip can easily turn into a 4 hour trip due to traffic.  So I will be staying with Tauna's family while I recover.  So the rest will go towards gas and food to get me there, get me home and so my husband and children can come visit me regularly. 

So if you can donate, I thank you tremendously.  If you cannot please send prayers that all goes well for Tauna , that her quality of life greatly improves and that she will enjoy many more years with her family.
