There's some things that you can never plan for.
In September 2017, Dallas was diagnosed with testicular cancer and everything for him and his mom Angela was put on hold as they began the road to treatment and healing. Angela lives an hour and a half away from Dallas and where his doctors are so she has endured a great deal of travel expenses to be there for him during this scary and difficult time. After Dallas had surgery, they thought that he would just be on observation before getting a clean bill of health however this was not the case. In March, the Doctors informed Dallas and Angela that the cancer has metastasized into his chest. The next steps have been chemo, which Dallas is not taking well to. The treatments are normally a few months in duration, but may be longer due to the adverse side effects that he is experiencing.
They have been staying with friends for the time being, but this is a temporary living situation. They are a long ways away from family and support, who are all back in Nova Scotia, and without permanent or stable housing in Calgary and other important resources, it is challenging for anyone to come and be with them. The financial burden is extraordinary, Angela has been maxing out credit cards and sinking further and further into debt to pay for travel, food and lodging for her and Dallas. From insurance co-pays to travel costs and lost wages...it is adding up quickly.
Right now, getting healthy and kicking cancers ass is the most important goal. Stressing about money should be the last thing on their mind.
We are reaching out to all of our wonderful friends and family to try and help us raise the funds needed to help them. Please reach into your hearts, even if you can’t spare any money, please spare a second and share their story in the hopes that others might be able to help.
