I am running the NYC Marathon for the second time in honor of my dear friends Regina & Chris Arnone. I have known Chris since he was a child. His family are longtime friends. Chris married Regina Orsogna on April 4, 2014. It was a magical evening as special as both of them. Two days after returning home from their honeymoon, Regina was hospitalized for an exacerbation of Crohn's Disease. At first, she was diagnosed with appendicitis and an intestinal obstruction in the ilium. Regina then had her first surgery for the obstruction & to remove her appendix but her condition did not improve, she just became worse. She then went down a long & painful & debilitating road that has included a sepsis infection , 5 additional surgeries, including an ileostomy. Regina has had countless drains put in and has been in a life threatening situation for the last 6 months. At just 33 years of age, she and Chris should be celebrating their first year as Newlyweds not enduring the physical and mental exhaustion that illness brings...
Through all of this, Regina has lived up to her family given nickname, "SPARKLE". She and Chris have fought hard to keep their spirits up while they continue to fight and remain strong. Regina was just operated on again less than 10 days ago. Though they have medical insurance, we all know that in this precarious time of health care, out of pocket costs are astronomical. I find it disgraceful that Chris and Regina are already facing more than $60,000 in medical bills. Please help me support my friends. Every dollar I raise will be given to Chris and Regina.
