After her valve replacement surgery went over successfully, Carissa was on the road to recovery when her tests showed that her blood was to think, causing clots to form. While in the ER she had a minor heart attack and multiple strokes.

After a thrombectomy they successfully removed two of the larger clots but unfortunately could not reach some smaller ones.

The CT scan they did on Monday showed damage to her brain. As of now we do not know the amount of damage that has been caused or if there will be any lasting effects.

For now the doctors have her heavily sedated for her comfort.

Please pray for her and her wonderful family. This difficult time is taking a massive toll on all of them emotionally and financially.

The number one concern is that she has petechial hemorrhages in her brain. By continuing to take blood thinners Carissa runs the risk of bleeding to death.

Problem is...if she doesn’t take the blood thinners then she will develop blood clots which we’ve seen will probably end with a heart attack or stroke.
