No one should fight alone

Hearing the words "I have cancer" from your best friend literally takes your breath away.

At age 33, Lauren Dudley discovered a lump which led to a diagnosis of an aggressive form of breast cancer. Further testing led to the discovery of a rare gene mutation that predisposes her to many forms of cancer. This diagnosis came a few weeks after her engagement to the love of her life, Mike Tripaldi.

On Monday Lauren underwent a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. During the surgery they discovered a tumor in her lymph nodes and removed 15 nodes under her arm. This discovery will likely make her chemotherapy more aggressive. Along with chemotherapy, she will undergo a year of Herceptin infusions. She is also undergoing fertility treatments in the hopes of preserving her chances of one day becoming a mother.

Being part of a family of four girls, Lauren's family is absolutely everything to her. She is a loving sister, aunt, daughter, and a wonderful friend to many. She is truly a beautiful and vibrant person inside and out.

Everyone has asked what they can do to help. Working as a hair stylist, Lauren is essentially self employed and after surgery is facing months of not being able to work. This is devastating not only as a stylist who cares greatly about her clients but financially as well. The bills associated with this type of illness compounded with not working, bring a huge burden.

What should be the most joyful and exciting time in her life has been taken by Cancer. This fundraiser will greatly help Lauren in her fight to battle this disease.

All of the well wishes and support are deeply appreciated.  We thank everyone for reading her story and helping her during her fight!
