Hunter Halford has been selected out of thousands of players to join the U.S Athletic International team in the Australian Blacktown Softball Challenge. As you can imagine, we are so very excited and proud of her to have made this prestigious team of outstanding softball players! Growing up, Hunter's dream has been to play on the US Olympic team, even if it was a little too big to reach for. But through her determination, family's support, and her natural talent it doesn't feel far from her reach these days. She has been offered the elite opportunity of being one of twenty chosen players to play ball in the land down under.
A shy seven-year-old throwing rogue balls in the driveway turned into a confident leader of every team she’s played on, school and travel. Our hometown awarded her the title of "Player of the Year" her Junior year of high school and she’s currently the lead pitcher at Norfolk State University, where she is a Junior on a full ride scholarship.
She's trained hard and cracked a bat even harder. This opportunity could change Hunter's career as a softball player and change her life as a person. This once in a lifetime trip will give her the chance to explore a different part of the world and their culture, while still playing the game she loves at an elite level.
Her family’s been her biggest fans— from sunburning on the ball field to her father building the biggest batting cage her backyard could hold. If home run balls and trophies could buy a plane ticket, she could get herself there on her own, but she needs our help.
Hunter needs sponsor support in order for her to have this incredible opportunity. She's been invited to compete from June 10th-22nd in Sydney, Australia. Hunter has pulled from her savings to put down a deposit, but still needs $6,000 to fund the trip . The money has to be raised by April 10th so she's counting on us to help her get there! Her financial obligation is to cover her expenses such as airfare, local transportation, food, hotel, training, coaching, uniform, registration, insurance, and other miscellaneous costs.
