Allison Buck Memorial Scholarships

Allison lived with such a beautiful enthusiasm for life, and heartwarming love for those around her.   She embodied a giving, empathetic loving spirit and shared her heart and compassion with anyone she encountered.  Allison had a love for children, to comfort them, teach them, and watch them grow and learn.   She had a love for animals, and  her desire to care for them was endless.

In 2011 Allison graduated from Fluvanna County High School, and had been accepted to Radford University to persue a degree in Education.  She was a premier level club soccer player, and Jefferson All District High School soccer player.  She was a youth soccer coach, winning two consecutive championships being not only the youngest coach in the county, but the youngest, and first, to win while coaching her first season, and two consecutive seasons in a row.  She was a member of a church youth group with whom she went on mission trips and holiday giving events, as well as a summer counselor at our local YMCA.  She had an adoring love for children, and it was her desire to become a teacher, specializing in special education.   Allison was constantly reaching out to those in need, doing chores for those unable to achieve them themselves.

Sadly, Allison passed away in an automobile accident on August 25th, 2011, on the eve before she was to leave for her freshman year at Radford University.

The Allison Buck Memorial Scholarships are created with her caring, giving, enthsiastic, and loving spirit to carry on her dreams, and her legacy, by giving to very deserving individuals.

All funds raised for the Allison Buck Scholarships are distributed to 2 graduating athletic students, one male, one female, from Fluvanna County High School, as well as travel and recreation scholarships for Fluvanna Youth Soccer Association.  Additionally, in an event we hold annually in October called Alli Fun Day, we support the FSPCA with a puppy booth; and  this year are adding a food drive known as "Allison's Grocery Bag" for humans and pets, to be donated to the FSPCA and Fluvanna's MACAA.

In 2012 and 2013 the Alli Fun Day events were successfully held.  The event is a festival with vendors, bouncy castles, music, food, face painting and much more.  The event is hosted by FYSA, and all proceeds from the event go towards the Allison Buck Memorial Scholarships.  It is a Fun Day for the whole family.  So far, the Allison Buck Scholarships have raised and distributed $5,000 in High School Scholarships, $4,200 in FYSA Scholarships.

We want to continue to grow these scholarships for the deserving individuals awarded them, and hope with the food drive and additional fund raising, we can even go beyond that.  Alli Fun Day this year is being held on October 25th.

All for the community, and in honor and memory of Allison.
