Help support the McGuins!

On September 15th, 2014 Stephanie McGuins took her husband Jeff to Baptist Health emergency room. Jeff didn't feel good for the week prior. He was having bad stomach pains. They both thought he only had a kidney stone. In the ER doctors did a chest X-ray and saw fluid around Jeff's heart, kidneys, and lungs. They scheduled a procedure to drain the fluid and to locate what was causing it. The procedure was only suppose to take 30 minutes. When they made the incision they saw blood, not fluid, and knew they had to immediately open him up. The surgery lasted for almost 5 hours. Jeff lost a lot of blood and had to be given at least three units. Upon draining much of the blood doctors located a tumor on his left atrium. Every time his heart would pump the tumor was squirting blood, that was in-turn filling his body up with blood. The doctor removed a piece of tumor a little larger than a quarter, from Jeff's heart. It was sent to pathology. After surgery Jeff was placed on a ventilator and in the ICU. Prior to Jeff's release from the hospital he and Stephanie learned that the tumor was cancerous. It is a rare and very aggressive sarcoma. There have only been about 50 cases of this type of cancer in the entire world. To get the best treatment and research they are going to have to travel. If you are able please donate to this family. They are two of the best people you will ever meet.
