The Duffy Family

My name is Flynn Gray and I am a personal friend of the Duffy Family.  I live on Vancouver Island and met both Gerry and Mel while working at a restaurant in Victoria, BC.  Before reading their story, it's important to understand how significant your contribution will be.  The funds being raised are going directly to the Duffy Family so that they can continue to support their children during this time of need, as well as cover the medical costs associated with Mel's care.  All funds are currently attached to my account and are directly transferred to Gerry.  Thank you and please continue to read below to understand the Duffy's a little better and their unfortunate situation <3

If you are lucky enough to know the Duffy's, then you are familiar with the hardship they have been faced with.  Mel, one of the most wonderful human beings I have had the pleasure to call a friend, fights for another day against stage 4 breast cancer.  She and her husband, along with their 3 children (14 and under), fight this battle together.

They have no idea I have made this site for them.  I'm doing this because as much as it breaks my heart to admit, this isn't a battle to be won.  This is a cold, hard reality for an undeserving and wonderful family.  A wonderful woman is going to lose her time with her chidlren; with her husband; and the least I can offer is to share their story and show them that people - even strangers - care for them and their situation. 

So here are the basics and I will stay brief:
- Mel is a 43 year old beautiful woman who has breast cancer that she will not recover from
- Her and her husband, Gerry, are from Ireland, where they are still awaiting their papers to be legally entitled to work in Canada.  Until those papers arrive, Gerry is unable to work and medical coverage is limited.

- their children are the strongest I have ever seen; I could not begin to imagine what they must be going through.

What your donation will give:
- Even the smallest amount of a few dollars will help this family.  The stress they must be under is incomprehensible, I can not begin to imagine.  The last thing I want is for them to suffer financial stress in any way on top of the emotional stress that comes with losing a loved one.  The money you donate today can contribute to their future.  To a single father raising his 3 beautiful children against horrible odds and fate of losing a wife; a mother.
