Holy Baby - Short Film about Postpartum psychosis

Last year I got to make my first short film, Loser Like Larkin (link below). The film has gone on to have the most incredible reaction I could have ever wished for and so we're making another one!!
'HOLY BABY' is inspired by real life stories and touches on the extremely important subject of postpartum psychosis, a relatively unknown illness faced by 1 in every 1000 mothers.
'Postpartum psychosis (or puerperal psychosis) is a severe mental illness. It starts suddenly in the days, or weeks, after having a baby. Symptoms vary, and can change rapidly. They can include high mood (mania), depression, confusion, hallucinations and delusions.'
I feel there should be more out there about this horrific illness that so many face daily.
We reached out to Action on Post Partum Pyschosis, an incredible charity helping women and families throughout the UK. They were kind enough to read the script and say this:
“Stories about postpartum psychosis (PP) have the power to raise awareness, tackle stigma and reduce feelings of shame and isolation. Creating a balance of responsible storytelling with a powerful dramatic twist will only increase the potential reach and impact of our awareness-raising efforts, and we are delighted that Phoebe has reached out to us at Action on Postpartum Psychosis to explore how film can contribute to this work.”
We will continue to be in contact with the APP charity throughout the whole process as we are committed to creating an authentic and sincere film.
Holy Baby log line:
'After the trauma of giving birth, a young couple struggle to raise their baby. Maybe the only option is to give it back.'
The film will be directed by the amazing JAMES COYLE, a sublime director who has integrity, brilliant understanding and stunning creative direction. We worked together on Loser Like Larkin and I can't imagine anyone else better than him to bring this script to life.
We will also be joined by EOIN MCLOUGHLIN , an award winning cinematographer, who has an expert eye and is one of the industry's leading DOP's.
Films cost money to make! They are time consuming and every single aspect of a film (no matter how short) involves a team of people. The money raised will be used for:
- Development.
- Pre-production.
- Cast and crew.
- Living costs (Accommodation, travel and catering).
- Locations.
- Costumes, set dressing and props.
- Equipment hire.
- Post-production (Editing, Grading, audio post).
- Festivals.
- Screenings.
There will also be opportunities to be involved in Holy Baby and for those of you who commit:
- £500 will get you a heartfelt thank you on the credits of the film
- £1,000+ will get you a copy of the completed film and an invitation to a private screening with a Q&A.
- £3,000+ will get you all the above, but most importantly an Executive Producer credit on the final film.
