Hannah's Healing

Donation protected
On September 14, 2017,  my 17 year old niece, Hannah Chance, was in a very serious car accident with four of her friends.  Sadly one young man lost his life that day.

Hannah, who lives with her family in Shakopee,  MN, was airlifted to HCMC from the scene of the accident and admitted to the ICU with a broken neck (complex unstable C2 and C3 vertebrae fractures, which usually cause quadriplegia -- but not for Hannah!), a fractured C7, a dissected artery in her neck, bruised lungs, and multiple scrapes, bruises, and contusions. More tests and time are needed to determine whether there is any permanent spinal cord damage or brain injury.

The incredible staff at Hennepin County Medical Center was able to attach a halo to Hannah to stabilize her neck. Vertebrae surgery was deemed too risky at this time, but may be needed in the future.

Hannah will face a long and difficult road as the true extent of her injuries are not yet known. With such serious injuries it is truly a day to day fight, and her family has been told to expect the battle to last at least one year, possibly a lifetime.

Hannah is the person who will make you laugh when you've had a hard day, and has so much love for her family and friends. Let's come together to help this young lady succeed and beat the odds. Let's help ease the financial burden.

Hannah is the daughter of Robin and Bob Chance of Shakopee, MN. Her brothers are Rob and Michael Chance.

September 17, 2017; Hannah is alert and Chatty! Your prayers are working! Please keep them coming!

For those who may be wondering, Hannah gave her family permission to create the GoFundMe account and to publish the photos that are posted.  The hospital photos are not provided for "shock" value -- they are Hannah's reality.  She was awake when the photos were taken but unable to open her eyes for more than a few seconds at a time.  The metal halo will be Hannah's constant accessory for the next three months (at least).
