Beagle Freedom Project

My name is Delaney Collins, I am a retired female hockey player from Team Canada and I currently hold the position of Head Coach with Canada’s Under 18 Women’s National Hockey Team. My aspiration in coaching is to work with the Women’s Senior National Hockey Team and the dream is to coach in the Olympic Games.

In my personal life, I am a sports enthusiast and animal lover. I am training for a Half Ironman which is being held in July 2019 in Whistler! As a tribute to my first beagle, Scout, who passed away and my rescue beagles Max and Bella, it is my goal to raise funds for the Beagle Freedom Project. Beagles are in labs throughout the world where their friendly demeanor and forgiving nature makes them ideal subjects of animal testing done in the cruelest of measures. The Beagle Freedom Project rescues these loving dogs, rehabilitates them and finds them permanent families.  The BFP relies heavily on fundraising for these rescues.

The Ironman race has given me a valued goal, the healthy life balance required for a former professional athlete.  Hockey brought me great success but, also, I suffered a severe concussion and major post-concussion symptoms for several years. Please join me on this incredible journey to ensure optimal health and a healthy lifestyle for my first Ironman race.

Thank you for your supporting my journey and the Beagle Freedom Project!

Regards,

Delaney
