Susan's Beat Breast Cancer Fund.

The last six months have been a bit of a life changing roller coaster for Susan, however throughout the ongoing hospital visits and bad news Susan has faced these challenges with a positive outlook and her sense of humour remains intact. For that, we applaud her!

Susan was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on 21st March 2014 and has since been on courses of Chemotherapy.

Yes she lost her hair, yes she got upset, yes she worried - but throughout this time she kept positive and found solace in new hobbies and ventures: She discovered a love of nature and healthy eating, working hard on her very own vegetable patch and reaping it's delicious rewards, she keeps herself and her cousin's dog fit by cycling and walking around the surrounding nature & she has found a new obsession for healthy homemade smoothies. Yum. She has a love of Snowboarding and the granny in her has come out as she now has a newly found love of sewing & knitting!

On 22nd September Susan transferred hospitals and unfortunately a second tumour was discovered which was previously undetected by the first hospital.

On 24th September Susan was informed she needs a mastectomy which is taking place on 1st October.

This was her facebook response:

Susan pulled through the operation really well. After she waking up she got something to eat and got up straight away with a lot of energy. Of course there were tears before and after the operation, but at least the tumors are out of her body now.

On 7th October she left the hospital in good conditions and is now recovering at home until radiotherapy starts.

She has started her anti hormone therapy at the end of October where she has to take one tablet every day for the next 10 years.

To get out all the toxics from her body and to recover her body in total she is seeing a traditional healer twice a week. This therapy is also not funded by her insurance.

We all know Susan to be a fun loving independent woman and her optimism and positivity is an inspiration to us all.

Chemotherapy is a physically demanding experience causing extreme exhaustion, sickness, dry skin, muscle pain and hair loss - Susan has had them all but has always kept upbeat.

Susan has been combatting the side effects by doing Yoga Therapy as recommended by her Yoga teacher, she researched it herself and found lots of reports of its beneficial effects.

Yoga therapy works, it helps alleviate fatigue and pain and reduces women's cortisol levels (high levels of cortisol destroy healthy muscle and bone).

That's why we've set up this page, I am an old friend of Susan and I messaged her suggesting if she needs any help - to just ask. I set up this page with Susan's help to ask you, her friends to please chip in as much or as little as you can.

Yoga therapy isn't funded by her insurance and it's costly, neither are her travel expenses to the new hospital, which isn't close to her. Unfortunately because of her severely disabled status Susan lost her job in March and there won't be a new contract offered to her. She's a fighter and wants to be back on track, fast. I'm asking on Susan's behalf for her friends, old and new, near and far to please chip in if you can, as much or as little to help towards funding Susan's Yoga Therapy, she also hopes to buy a new bike (with gears) with the funds kindly raised.

Let's do this and help get a good friend on the mend.

Thank you so much.

Shaun

A message from Susan:

I can't find the words for saying thank you. It's the first time in my life that I'm in need of a lot of help which is quite hard for me as I have always been an independent woman. During all this time I keep myself positive and all the support makes me fight against the cancer even more.
The cancer scares me, but my humor helps me to get through it.

Lots of love, Susan <3

Thanks a thousand times. Wish I could give you all a big cuddle for your help!
