Ped Nurse needs Hearing Aids

I am a Pediatric Burn Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Baton Rouge, La. & Love what I do. I have hearing defect from birth due to my mother having german measels in her 5th month of pregnancy with me.I was to be born a vegetable according to Doctors, but my Mother & Father decided that I would be Loved & cared for at Home no matter what. God's grace allowed me to only have a hearing defect. As a child my parents requested that I learn to read lips instead of sign language. My hearing loss is worse in my left ear, than my right. In school I always had to sit in the front of the class with my right ear towards the teacher. Later in life, working in the medical field, hearing aids were recommended & man did my life change!! Who thought Birds sang so loud & the trees actually whistled in the wind!! I was presently in school and Vocational Rehab purchased my 1st set of hearing aids in 1988 & my second set in 2003. The hearing aids I presently have need to be upgraded due to my continual hearing loss now due to age. This pair of hearing aids can no longer be adjusted or repaired as they are too old.
I am asking for help to get a new pair of hearing aids. It has become apparant that I will not be able to continue to work in the evironment of Nursing if I am not able to hear to my fullest capacity. I also attend Burn Camp every summer with our burn children as the Camp Nurse. I have attended camp since 2006. I so much want to continue to work & care for these children. This is what I do best & do not want my hearing to effect my continued caring as a Nurse & Friend to these children, whom I dearly love.
