We live life as ordinary as it can get; eat, sleep, go to work, pay the bills, attend school, socialize with family/friends, and love. We never thought such a disease like cancer would fall upon us and today I am sad to say that cancer has affected one of my sisters, Maky.

This project is to assist Maky and her family battle cancer. Every cent, dollar, thought, prayer, blessing  will count towards Maky's journey in healing.

Hi, my name is Maky Vang and I am a 32 year old woman who has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma.  It’s the most deadly type of skin cancer a human being can get if you were not to catch it early on.  If it was to spread to any of my organs then that gives me a slightly chance to survive but lucky for me, it didn’t.  With that said, the cancer had only spread to one of my lymph nodes on my right groin.  I had to go under two surgeries to get the cancer out and had started Interferon therapy (my treatment) on 8/18/2014.  The treatment was every day Mon-Fri for a month through an IV for 1-2 hours per day.  After the month, it’s an injection at home for 3 times a week for the next 11 months.  So it’s basically a whole year process of treatment.

I have a husband and three beautiful children.  Celine, who will turn 11 years old soon and is the biggest helper.  She is such a fashion diva but yet her mind already thinks like an adult.  Tyson is 5 ½ years old, who just started kindergarten this fall and loves school.  He is shy, quiet and is the most kindness 5 year old boy you will ever meet.  Edyson my baby who is 1 ½ years old is the total opposite of them both.  He is curious about everything and is not afraid to fight for himself.  He’ll tell you like it is.

Lastly, my husband Fua who I have been married to for 12 years.  The most amazing 12 years of my life.  Without him, I wouldn’t have what I have today.  He has been very supportive and loving throughout this whole process.  I realized that it’s just not me who is going through this but he is also.  With the help of one another, is the only way to survive this horrible sickness.

Life is just so unfair sometimes but I am glad to be where I am today.  It makes me the strong person that I am.  I have learned with all this that there is a reason why I received this punishment, so now I just have to keep on fighting this and get better for my family and especially for MYSELF!
