Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hi everyone, over the last few months I have had back-to-back health issues. Between unexpected ER visits, specialists, bloodwork, CT and Ultrasounds, and everything else I have had to get done, I had a giant bill sent to me. I worked with Kaiser to get it reduced, and right now it’s around $1,000. I plan to pay on a payment plan, and want to avoid sending my bill to collections because I need to continue with my insurance plan as I continue testing and treatment options (and I am scared to send anything to collections lol). We basically live paycheck to paycheck right now, and this bill
is really scary and kind of looming over me. Anything helps, and I will reach out to send you a personal thank you. I am giving a few more personal details below. Thank you.

Detailed issues:
I am still in the dark about what exactly is wrong or what is going on. I have one smaller kidney that doesn’t function as well that I have had as a kid, which has not given me too many problems as of lately. Because of this kidney, I get frequent bladder infections that can turn into kidney infections; they are not fun at all. During this last bladder infection, I woke up one day and immediately knew I needed to get antibiotics. I woke up with side and abdominal pain, burning with urination, and urgency. We got my antibiotics, but this was the first time that it did not help with my symptoms. Instead, the pain got to the point where I could not walk. I also began to have back pain, which my primary doctor said because of my kidney, back pain = go to the ER immediately. I called the advice nurse who said to go to the ER, so Chris drove me there immediately. Besides having the worst ER visit so far, (they wouldn’t allow Chris to be with me at all, because he was not technically my spouse. A whole other story lol) I was promptly sent for lots of testing, CT scans, Ultrasounds, multiple urine tests, blood testing (which make me pass out EVERY time lol), and more. After a long night, they sent me home saying “well, it looks like you passed a very small kidney stone. Take some ibuprofen when you get home and drink lots of water”. They said my symptoms could stay for a few weeks. So, Chris took me home. It has been almost over a month, and I still am in pain and discomfort everyday. I am seeing a urogynocologist (specialist) and a physical therapist. I still am undiagnosed, but the possibilities are almost endless. I have to continue seeing my specialist and physical therapist (co-pays cover this, phew) and get more testing. My insurance actually covered a LOT more than I thought it would, and the Kaiser rep helped me apply for financial aid. If anyone has had similar issues I would love to hear any advice or your experience.
