Cabo San Lucas needs a little love!

Sunday, September 14, 2014, Los Cabos communities on the Baja Peninsula of Mexico were struck by Hurricane Odile. Odile registered wind speeds of over 125mph, and is being called one of the worst storms to ever hit the region. Early reports are showing widespread destruction never before seen in this area. Streets are flooded, tens of thousands have been left homeless, and basic services are nonexistent.
The devastation is clear, and the need for a rapid and thoughtful response is critical.
In the areas hardest hit by the wind and rains called Clonias or Barios families are without homes, food, water, clothing, sanitary items, the bare necessities of life. These are the areas where most of your hotel and restaurant support staff live. These are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and they are SO appreciative of everything.
What are my goals?
Immediate Needs: The main people I want to help are those that lost most everything and are in need of shelter, food, drinking water, clothing and other basic support including medical attention. This past week I was able to bring a doctor with us on a despensing trip and he treat over 40 people for many illnesses. Do to the amount of rain and standing water the doctor feels illnesses transmitted by mosquitos will be the next thing to hurt these areas.
Distribution of FUNDS:
I have been working with many community advisors here in Cabo to assure the funds that I collect are distributed appropriately and to the people who need the most help. Since most of the people who lost everything are those which are referred to as "invaders" live off the grid the government officials have not been able to get them the attention they need.
How can you help?
While the needs are vast, I am in a position to make a difference right now. I have established a designated fund that you can donate to immediately. Please share this appeal with friends and colleagues.
I will update you on the progress of this fund as we gather more information on the ground.
Another storm threatening to turn into a hurricane is set on a path for Los Cabos this week and many more are sure to form as this is the prime season for tropical storms in the easteren pacific. Time is of the essence. With your support, we can help the most vulnerable members of the community rise above this tragedy.
