Help Dustin Recover

Donation protected
My name is Lindsay Davis and my brother is Dustin Davis. On the evening of September 23, 2014, Dustin was in a major motorcycle accident. He was life-flighted to the hospital. Our family had no idea till the next day around noon. When we arrived at the hospital we were able to see him in ICU. He has no brain or head injuries. He does have major damage to his left leg, left arm, foot, collar bone, lung, ribs, and spine. He will have to have multiple surgeries. He just had an MRI done on his spine and he has major damage. This will be the first of many surgeries and will be preformed on September 25, 2014.

I don't have any other information until they start the surgeries.

My brother was either on his way to school or on his home from school. We don't know details of this until the police report is finished, which could be up to 10 days! My family and I are all here at the hospital and will continue to rotate being here until he recovers.

Donations are greatly needed for Dustin because he does not have health insurance. If you are not able to donate then your prayers are greatly appreciated!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I will keep everyone posted as I know more!

UPDATE: Dustin's surgery for his spine went well yesterday. He is going back into surgery today. His wounds are being cleaned, an artery in his leg is being repaired, and getting a valve in his heart to prevent clotting. Please keep praying for Dustin Davis! I'm so appreciative of everyone's support and I know that Dustin and my family is too!

10-1-14 UPDATE: On Sunday Dustin was in surgery for his left arm and it went really well! The Doctor said it's hard to tell it was even broken with how well they could put it back together! On Tuesday he was in surgery for his right leg and that went well too! See the picture below of before and after! It's amazing what these Doctors can do! I Thank God for them! Today Dustin is going into surgery for his left leg and this leg was worse than the right leg so please please be praying that this surgery goes just as well as the other ones!! Thank you again for everyone's prayers and support! We love you all!!

10-6-14 UPDATE: The surgery for Dustin's left leg went well!! There have been a few bumps in the road, but over all he is making progress. When I went to visit him yesterday they had him sitting up a little bit in a special chair. It was great to see that they are starting to work on movement! Today he was moved to a different level in ICU which is also a great step! Later today he will under go more surgeries on his lowers legs.  I'm not sure at this point, but I think this will be multiple surgeries. Since Dustin lost so much muscle and skin they will have to take muscle and skin from other areas of his body to repair his lower legs. Please keep praying that his surgeries continue to go well!! Thank you again for everyones support & prayers!!! Dustin is strong and I believe 100% he can get through this!!!

Also - I know many of you want to come visit Dustin, but at this point he still does not want visitors. He is not able to talk yet.  I think when he is done with  ALL surgeries and his trachea tube is out and he can talk, then he will start seeing people! But, anyone is welcome to visit with the family and friends in the waiting room anytime 6am-9pm.  I will let everyone know when Dustin will start seeing visitors! Thank you for your understanding!

UPDATE:

Hey guys! Sorry I have not updated sooner, our family has been very busy with Dustin's recovery!

Dustin was at TIRR memorial hermann (rehabilitation hospital) for three weeks! When he was there they would put him in a wheelchair daily and started on upper body exercises! They also taught us how to take care of him at home! Since Dustin's injuries were so bad, he needed more time for healing and he is now home as of November 7th for 6-8 weeks. After that time, he will go back to TIRR for more extensive physical therapy. Dustin is still in constant pain and still has no feelings in his lower body. Everyday is really hard for him! So all the cards and prayers and help from everyone helps so much! We thank all of you so much!!!

He is seeing visitors now so if anyone would like to visit him please contact me at [phone redacted]

I also posted a picture of Dustin's first day in his wheelchair and him working on his upper body!

June 2015- Dustin has been home for a while now. He currently goes to physical therapy a couple times a week. Everything is still so hard for him emotionally and physically. Please continue to keep Dustin in your prayers! Also keep my mother, Karen in your prayers... She helps Dustin everyday and I couldn't imagine having to take care of your own child in that way! She is such a strong, amazing, and caring mother but still needs support too!

I am also planning a BBQ dinner benefit for Dustin so we can fund him to go to Project Walk. I will give details later, but if anyone wants to donate food, gift baskets to raffle off, or wants to volunteer to work the event, please let me know!

Thanks again everybody!
