Ezra Kipruto Kogei, family expenses

Hi, I am Joe Springer. My wife Jo-Ann Brant and I were host parents to Ezra Kipruto Kogei, a sophomore nursing major and cross-country team member at Goshen College. Ezra was a quiet, friendly, inquisitive young man who enjoyed his studies, his teammates, and the larger community he was learning to know here in Goshen.

Sadly, Ezra died on October 22, 2022, from severe injuries sustained in a single-car accident earlier that week. We miss his physical presence in our home but we will carry his memory in our hearts.

As the eldest son of his widowed mother Rose Cherono, Ezra was an essential source of current and future financial support for his family in Eldoret, Kenya. Jo-Ann and I are aware of both immediate expenses and longer-term financial needs that Ezra's family has. This fundraiser is to benefit Rose and her family. Please consider donating generously to our goal.

Contributed funds will help cover unexpected costs related to Ezra's untimely death and continue some of the support he has provided his family in the months ahead. The beneficiaries will be his mother, Rose Cherono, and her four surviving children. Ezra's sister Mercy Cheptoo has authorized this fundraising effort on behalf of her mother and the family. We will use the funds to pay invoices of immediate expenses occasioned by Ezra's death directly to those providing services to Ezra's family. Some of these will be invoices issued in the United States, others will be invoices issued in Kenya. Once all immediate expenses are paid, we will continue to pay invoices on behalf of the family as needed until the balance of contributed funds is exhausted.
