Mabel's Surgery Fund
Donation protected
Overnight, our energetic, snuggly, goofball kitten had become so sick, she was unrecognizable. We thought she wasn’t going to make it and spent a week doing everything possible to make sure she did. We are now facing multiple vet bills for X-rays, lab tests, an ultrasound, and her life-saving surgery and hospital stay. We are asking for help covering the cost of these bills and would appreciate donations of any size.
Here’s the full story:
Earlier this month, our cat Mabel suddenly became sick. At first, we thought she had a hairball because she was vomiting, but when she refused to eat anything, we immediately took her to an emergency vet. The vet took an X-ray, which was inconclusive, so Mabel was given nausea medication and sent home. The next day her condition worsened, so the vet ran a series of labs that showed an infection of unknown origin. This time she was sent home with an antibiotic and we thought she was going to get better. But the following morning, she became so severely ill, that the vet told us to take her to an emergency vet for an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed a foreign object in her intestines, which required immediate surgery. By now, it was late afternoon, and impossible to find a surgeon in the city who could perform the operation that day. Fortunately, we found a vet in the suburbs who could perform the surgery the next morning. It was a scary night, but she made it through and the surgery was a success. Mabel spent three days in the hospital recovering and is now doing well. The ordeal was traumatic not only for Mabel but for us and our other cat, who missed his cuddle buddy. We are so grateful Mabel is back home and on the mend and we appreciate any help towards this unexpected lifesaving expense. Thank you!
