Sight is one of our most precious gifts and I am passionate about giving this gift to those who are most in need.
I am teaming up with our local AWARE shelter to provide free eye exams and eyeglasses to the women and children impacted by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Many times these women and children are in situations where they must flee quickly leaving behind most of their possessions, or they have had trauma to the head resulting in broken or lost eyeglasses. My objective is to ensure that their visual needs are taken care of and not forgotten.
I am donating my services and performing the eye exams, and a colleague has generously donated frames. The goal of this campaign is to raise funds to provide the lenses needed for the eyeglasses. Having a proper pair of glasses gives these women the means to get their driver's license, fill out applications, obtain employment. It ensures that their children are able to learn in school and not fall further behind.
ALL the funds received (less the site's administrative fees) will be used to provide eyewear to those in need. On behalf of those women and children, I thank you in advance for your generosity and donations.
