Eye loss vision but not faith

Donation protected

Brace yourselves this might not be a short entry, but if you’ve made it this far please share our journey, for friends and family are what we most need at this time.
As some of you may know my sister Vanessa has had her strength put to the test for the past couple three months. It has been hard but not once have I seen her faith or her determination waiver,  I can only hope that with this campaign our friends and family’s strength will help my sister keep fighting and help her not lose faith.
As of now July 2017 my sister has undergone 3 major surgeries and 4 laser treatments with weekly visits to the hospital for checkups. Her eyesight has never been good even since birth. She was 6 months premature and throughout her life she has had to wear high prescription lenses. Her right eye has always been a problem, having had been diagnosed with astigmatism a couple years back. But never did we imagine we would be living this journey. Back in December during her annual optometrist visit she found out just how bad her eyesight had gotten. She was warned that the tissue surrounding her eyes was very delicate and was at risk of getting a retinal detachment. It was not something she could have prevented we had no way of knowing when it would happen or even if it would happen anytime soon. It was very sudden it started out one morning and progressed rapidly throughout the day and ended with her having an emergency surgery that very day. Her first surgery just like the remaining two others went very well, everything according to plan and no complications per her Dr. however her recovery was a different story, we would take her home, care for her, follow all instructions but with no success. We went time after time to her checkups only to receive bad news just like this past Friday. We received news that she is no longer a candidate for retinal surgery meaning that we no longer have hope of her recovering her full eyesight in her right eye. At this point it is not completely gone, although dim there is still light in her eye and we plan to continue fighting to keep that light on. If we don’t fight we risk her losing her eye completely and that is not an option for my sister at the moment. It has not just been a fight with one eye however, there is still a possibility this can happen to her left. Having already had many similar symptoms in her left eye we are constantly in suspense and we can only hope. If you’ve read this far we sincerely thank you and we ask that you share our story. Vanessa has her entire life ahead of her with a beautiful one year old daughter help us shine some light unto her. Our goal is high but the sky is the limit and we appreciate any donations no matter how small.
