ChickTech Bay Area Kickoff Event

Help introduce 100 high school girls to tech!

ChickTech is dedicated to retaining women in the technology workforce and increasing the number of girls pursuing technology-based careers by facilitating hands-on technology-centric events to empower, support, and increase the confidence of women and girls. Through our events, we build community, empower participants to see themselves as leaders, and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing high tech industry.

ChickTech: High School is a free yearlong program that introduces 100 high school girls to technology and the local tech community. It kicks off with a 2-day event on November 22-23 at New Relic, then has events around different careers, technologies, and companies throughout the next 12 months. Our program provides a fun, positive learning experience designed to build participants’ confidence in their technical abilities, give them positive role models, create connections with other young women from the Bay Area, and create a positive association with technology creation. Because we focus on girls who have not yet opted in to creating technology projects, we are supporting girls who will not choose technology without our help.

At our kickoff event in Portland this year, we increased the number of girls who were "very interested" in a tech career by 229% (from 14% to 46%).

We keep our k-12 events free to reduce barriers for under-represented groups, and we also provide transportation help for all those who need them. Because of this, we rely on your generous (tax-deductible!*) support to run these workshops!

Please help us make this upcoming kickoff event an amazing success that changes these girls' lives!
