Horse Rescue Ranch & Veteran Therapy

The SPCA of Indian River County, Florida is in the process of purchasing a 20-acre horse ranch to rescue abused, neglected or abandoned horses. This unique ranch will be operated by Military Veterans, Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or Military Sexual Trauma (MST). Our mission is simple….our Veterans will take care of the horses and the horses will take care of the Veterans. Our ranch will be a quiet, hardworking and peaceful environment for our Veterans, who will be trained and mentored by equine experts in the Indian River County Horse Community. Military Veterans, Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters are protectors by nature and it’s engrained in every fiber of their hearts and souls. They will understand and accept these abused and neglected horses and take care of them like the special blessings they are. The horses in return, will provide the gentle and quiet acceptance of the Veterans and give them a sense of belonging and inner healing.
