eXXpedition - North Pacific 2018
My name is Rowan and I am a marine scientist from the Isle of Man. This summer I will be part of a team of super inspiring woman sailing across the North Pacific Ocean to research the devastating impacts of single use plastic and toxins in the world's oceans.
We will be sailing 3 and a half weeks straight through the North Pacific Gyre which is known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Thought to be one of the densest accumulations of marine plastic found anywhere one earth.
This is an all-female expedition as generally women are still underrepresented in the science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) sectors, and occupy only 13% of the STEM workforce. The expedition hopes to help redress the balance and encourage more woman to move into science and exploration.
To make the expedition possible, each crew member must contribute to the cost of the voyage. Overall, I need to contribute £5950 to the voyage, and I am saving as much as I can to achieve this, but I'm also hoping you wonderful people might help to support my cause :)
Any donations would be so greatly appreciated, and I want to give some cool stuff to show how thankful I am.

Check out the voyage, the rest of the team, and the amazing mission!
