Carli's Paraguay Service Trip

Hello!
My name is Carli Gray and I am a Sophomore at the Edmund Burke School. My dream is to become a journalist or a personal essay writer when I grow up. Plunging into new cultures and experiencing everything life throws at me, motivates me to pursue my dream with more ambition. While looking for new ways to gain exposure to other cultures, which will help me enhance my insight as a writer, I joined the LearnServe International program.
The LearnServe International program partners with Independent, Charter and Public Schools in the Washington, DC and Metropolitan area. The program's objective is to expose students to new cultures, social entrepreneurship, and service around the world. LearnServe has sponsored trips to Paraguay, Zambia, and Jamaica for the past 10 years with much success! As LearnServe participants, some of the things we will do in these countries are work to enhance the living conditions and renovate community buildings such as schools and community centers.
In order to participate in this endeavor I need your help to raise the funds that will pay for my journey to Paraguay. My goal is to raise $3500 to pay for the travel, vaccinations, tourist visa, pharmaceutical needs, and service materials. I am asking for your financial assistance to help me achieve my immediate service efforts alongside my long term dream. In order to raise the $3500 for the trip, a goal donation of $20 or whatever your heart desires to donate by April 15th would be greatly appreciated. I really want to be apart of this amazing experience in order to be exposed to a new culture and learn new ways of living. In addition, because I will be living with a spanish speaking family; I will have the opportunity to advance my comprehension of the language.
In order to show my appreciation for your support of me going to Paraguay, I assure you that every person who donates to my trip will get an update on my activities.
