Expedition Dance Project Support!

Donation protected

Who:
Expedition Dance. Visit our website to learn more about us and to see our past projects around the Cleveland and Columbus areas! www.expeditiondance.org

What: Studio rental, costuming, travel costs, 501(c)(3) filing fees, general project support.

Why: Being a dance artist is sometimes such a catch 22. You often need to make new work to be selected for future grants and paid performance opportunities. But it costs money to make work. So essentially you need money to be able to get money and support. Thus far, Expedition Dance has primarily self-funded many projects, with the exception of a few grants and paid performance opportunities here and there. We are at a place now where we have an arsenal of work and resources, and we are beginning to be noticed and selected for future projects and performance opportunities. Expedition Dance needs a little bit of seed money to help us grow and reach that self-sustainable level.

Upcoming Projects: Expedition Dance has two upcoming projects that we were selected for. First, we are performing with Raw Artists at the Cleveland House of Blues on Thursday, March 22nd.  And Second, we are performing in Columbus for "Ten Tiny Dances" presented by New Vision Dance Company on Saturday, April 14th . We need to rent out rehearsal space for both of these shows, and rehearsal rentals are not cheap. To give you an idea, an hour rental typically costs $35. Multiply that by 3 hours of solid rehearsal time for 5 days, and you are looking at $500+ dollars of rental costs for these two shows!

How: There are four ways you can support us! AND EVERYONE WHO HELPS US BY DONATING OR BY PURCHASING RAW TICKETS WILL BE INVITED TO A SPECIAL PREVIEW OF OUR NEW WORK FOR "TEN TINY DANCES" ON SUNDAY APRIL 8TH! (details to be shared later!)

(1) Donate directly here through GoFundMe.
While we are registered as a nonprofit with the state of Ohio, we have not taken the next step to become a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) yet, so donations made to Expedition Dance are not deductible at this time. Believe it or not, there are quite a few filing fees involved to take that official next step!

(2) Come see us dance! Purchase tickets to the Raw Artists show at the Cleveland House of Blues on Thursday, March 22nd. Every sale we make through our Raw Artists page helps us meet our ticket quota and make money! Purchase tickets here: http://www.rawartists.org/expeditiondance
Please purchase your tickets by Thursday, March 15th to help us meet our ticket goals! So don't wait! Just do it!

(3) Are you a Cleveland dancer? Well then come take our company class with us! We are holding company classes from 10am to 11:30am on the following Sundays at CityBreaks Cle, 5409 Detroit Rd, Cleveland.
-March 11th. -March 18th. -March 25th. -April 8th.
Suggested donation $12. Our classes are what I would consider to be a hybrid between modern, ballet, and contemporary. (Dancers 16+ only please. But all levels welcome!)

(4) Can't help monetarily but still want to help? Follow us on instagram  and facebook . Like and share our posts! Join our email list! Or do you have space rental leads, performance opportunity leads? Can you offer creative services like photography or videography, or are you an artist yourself looking to collaborate? Reach out to us at [email redacted]!

The Future:
Wondering how we are going to be sustainable in the future? Well I can't promise that we will never crowd-source again, but here is our plan. First, with the ability to create a deeper arsenal of work by renting out space for classes and rehearsals, we will be able to apply for more grants and paid performance opportunities that will begin to generate revenue for us. Second, by participating in shows like Raw Artists and Ten Tiny Dances, we will generate more followers and exposure, which may lead to individual donor support.  And third, with an expanded arsenal of work and followers, we would love to produce our own show one day, generating ticket revenue! So that is our plan for now!
