Calli Wood's Fight for Health

As many of you know, I have Chronic Shingles and PHN nerve damage. After 9 outbreaks of blisters (most being on my hip), I was left with a dragging leg that caused excruciating pain at the age of 27. I went from a Student Pastor that loves being goofy, teaching the Word, and living a life of outdoor adventure to the reality that everything has to be modified or stopped due to the physical limitations of my body. Devastating.... doctors didn’t have answers or direction for me. I didn’t know what to do.... but then I found a Doctor who believed he could reactivate the nerves and muscles that have shut off and put me in shingles prevention mode. LIFE CHANGING. I moved to Fort Collins CO about 4 months ago with the support and help of so many friends and family. During the move in August, I experienced the worst round of shingles of my life - causing more damage. Doctors felt like I was in really bad shape physically BUT my main doctor still believed healing was possible. SO here I am.... 4 months into a treatment planned that we hoped would be 3 months (enabling me to go back into the ministry I love dearly) and I have several months left ahead of me. Though the discouragement creeps in, I still am awestruck at the faithfulness of God in this whole story. A story I have taught several times includes the woman with the issue of blood... I always reenact what that story would’ve looked like for the girl as I get on my hands and knees persevering to get to Jesus for the miracle that changes more than the woman. Yet, I feel like I may be on my hands and knees pressing through a crowd to get to the miracle today. Though it would be easier to attempt to jump into life and forfeit the true healing, I am called to steward the opportunity to recover fully. Many people have made the last 4 months possible. I’m beyond grateful for every call, encouragement, prayer and gift.
