Mexico Earthquake Relief Fund

On September 19, 2017 Mexico was severely impacted by an earthquake that left devastation, death and many families without a roof over their heads wondering how will they recover and rebuild their lives. We cannot be blind when tragedy strikes others. This is the reason why we have decided to create this fundraising page to help families in Mexico. There is a community in Puebla, Mexico by the name of “San Antonio Alpanocan”. This is a rural area located just outside of Mexico City where help has not arrived yet. In this particular community there are 17 homes that have been affected. The structures are severely damaged and some houses are completely destroyed.
We are a family from Dallas, Texas working together with “Yolotzin Arte y Cultura – (Yolotzin Culture and Art)” an organization from Mexico City that will be our eyes, hands and feet to reach out to the families in this community to ensure they receive the help that is needed to start recovering from this tragedy. My wife and I had been praying for the best way to help the people of Mexico and we came in contact with this organization through a family member that lives in Mexico City. After speaking to them we felt in our hearts that this was the right way to go as we both have the same goal and vision to help and ensure these families get the support they need.
Our goal is to build a shelter for all the families to have a place to stay. The reconstruction of their homes can take months or even years and the process will be very difficult. You can imagine the burden they are facing as none of these families have any type of insurance to submit claims nor the possibility apply for loans; therefore they would have to rebuild their homes on their own. In the meantime the need of a roof over their heads is urgent.
We are committed to raise $7,000 to begin the construction process of this shelter. These are the items that will be obtained if we meet our goal with all the funds we raise together: Construction materials such as blocks, wood, beams, metal sheets, tools, blankets, sleeping pads, necessity goods, items for children and food. We personally will be withdrawing the donations and will be transfering all the funds directly to the organization.
Eventhough we did not meet the goal that was set in the beggining. We were able to raise $2350. And we know these funds will be a great blessing to this community. We will be posting updates as the construction process begins.
The need is great but together we can accomplish many great things!
