EVS Preschool Playground

The Preschool team at Enfield Village School is diligently working towards a new playspace for the preschool students, our special needs population, and the general community. Our goal is to raise $84,000 to cover the cost of the project. We are well on our way to meeting that goal. Friends of Mascoma and the Bryne Foundation have agreed to help us in taking this project on. Friends of Mascoma has granted us $2,500 through a mini-grant. The Byrne Foundation has generously offered a donation of matching funds to help with this endeavor. This is where we need help from the community! If we raise $40,000 the Byrne Foundation will match it dollar for dollar!
The preschool in EVS started in the fall of 2013 and has grown in enrollment each year. Our student population encompasses a wide range of abilities and we are looking to best meet the needs of all of our students, regardless of ability. When we started the program we shared the same play structure and space as the students K-4, and that same play structure is designed for ages 5-12, thus making it not particularly appropriate for our younger population.
What does this project look like? We are working with 2150 square feet of existing playground, just to the side of the main play space. A large swing set has been removed. The preschool team has been in communication with Ultiplay to design the space to best meet the needs of children that will have access to it. Our plan is to have a separate, fenced, solid-surface area to meet the needs of all mobilities; a new developmentally appropriate structure; and individual equipment that support play while developing balance, hand eye coordination, and other gross motor skills.
To date we have raised $7,753.48. Our goal is to raise $15,000 through our Spring postcard mailing. Our fundraising efforts have been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been difficult to raise funds during these unusual times, but we are committed to providing a much needed play space for our school community. All this to say, we need YOU! No amount is too small and every single dollar will put us one step closer towards meeting our goal!
