Eviction Prevention for Black Women

Donation protected
Raising funds for eviction prevention for black women. There are several women in dire need of support.

One young lady has been forced to flew Madison for her life. She was well established with a great job. She is known in our community as a giver and a doer. As a result of physical, mental and emotional abuse, she had no other choice but to go into hiding.  She has three small children.

I and others have helped her find safe and stable housing as well as employment. However, due to the emergency nature of the situation, she was unable to take anything with her. She has nothing. She used her savings to cover 1st months rent and security deposit. which was approximately $1890. Her rent is due again on March 1st. Which is $945.00. She also has to pay $100/week for daycare starting next week and a $125 enrollment fee. It will take her approximately 3 paychecks before she's stable. In the meantime to ensure she has childcare and that she's able to pay March's rent, I'm asking the Madison community to do what we do best and that is to SHOW Up for those that are the most disenfranchised and marginalized amongst us.

We're looking to raise $1600.00 for her. And $1000.00 to be split between a family of 4 and a family of 2. The other two families have been served eviction notices and we've been able to secure a total of $1250.00 for them but are still coming up short.

For Madison's poorest renters — particularly black women — evictions are disturbingly common, trapping us in a cycle of poverty leading to long-lasting repercussions on employment, health, relationships and overall stability.

“Eviction is fundamentally changing the face of poverty,” One way we can interpret eviction is like, ‘Oh, it’s a result of irresponsibility, it’s bad spending habits.’ But if ... you’re spending 80 percent of your income on rent, eviction is much more of an inevitability than an irresponsibility.”

Let's do what we do best MADISON and surrounding areas; let's make sure these families do not end up on the street.

One mother has 3 small children and works 8 hours a day. The other mother has 1 small child and works 10hr days.

All parties have asked that I keep their identities private.

I'm asking for a few hundred above the required amount to cover GOFundMe Fees and for the next woman that needs our SUPPORT.

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE FOR SHOWING UP AND SHOWING OUT FOR OUR COMMUNITY
