Evets Family House Fire

My in-laws lost everything in the recent Sonoma County fires.
 My in-laws lost everything in the recent Sonoma County fires. 

Everything they own is gone but the most important items, which are not replaceable have made this situation that much more difficult. 

Emergency evacuation.   
My in-laws had ten minutes to leave their home and were awaken by loud bangs on the door by firefighters. Because fires had jumped the freeway and started burning at an unprecendented rate, my in-laws had no time to grab even the smallest memento. They left with their two dogs and what they had on their backs in the early hours, headed south and into a hotel parking lot where others soon gathered. They did not find out their house was gone until that afternoon when they were shown a video of the area where it once stood.

The following day they were offered a stay at a hotel in Healdsburg, free of charge. However, they have once again evacuated that area because of the spreading wildfire and are now with other family that have lost power in their home.

This is an ongoing nightmare and unfortunately one of many many more. 

The most difficult part is yet to come but finding, re- building a home and a life again is unfathomable, especially at their age.  We are all truly heartbroken because all they have worked so hard for is lost.

Most importantly, we are grateful they are alive and safe.
