Everyone is welcome at Spryfield Farmers Market

Tax deductible
Want to join us in making a difference? THE SPRYFIELD FARMERS MARKET has just moved to St. Paul’s United Church at 173 Old Sambro Rd. We are so happy about our new home that we want to pay it forward. The market wants to have our market money tokens available to everyone who is served by the ST PAUL’S FAMILY RESOURCE INSTITUTE. This includes a whole lot of people who normally wouldn’t be able to come to our market. The FRI have 2 food banks, as well as outreach to low income seniors, and new Canadians. All of us at the Spryfield Farmers Market believe deeply that everyone should have access to locally grown fresh food, and we want to find inovative ways to make this happen.

All the funds donated through this campaigne will go towards the purchase of “market money” that can be used to purchase products offered at our market.

This is how it works:  Once we have enough funds available to purchases the market  money  the lovely folks at FRI will distribute market money coins to people in their programs. These people can come to the market to use their coins to buy some extra healthy food.

This is why it is important: The coins will be exactly the same as the ones the market sells for promotion and marketing to the general public. It gives people with food security issues more autonomy choice and access to a healthy food source. It gives every one receiving them incentive to come and spend some time in a welcoming inclusive environment, with none of the stigma around needing some help attached. The Spryfield Farmers Market is able to welcome more people to the market, and the vendors at the market can feel really good because more of  their products will be going to people who can really benifit from some help.

What you you can do to help: Your donation will fund the purchase of the market money that will be given to people in need. There are no administrative or start up costs attached to this fundraising. The St Paul’s Family Resource Institute is a registered charity, so you will receive a charitable donation receipt for tax purposes. Please help us ensure that everyone feels welcome at the Spryfield Farmers Market.
