Every Dog Has Its Day! Help Dakota have hers!

Animals give us more I think than we give them. They give unconditional love and help us emotionally and mentally. My son struggled in 2020 but thankfully chose to continue his story and a new part of that story included finding a dog. Dakota is that dog! She is a Siberian Husky. The moment he laid eyes on her he was in love. She had all of us at hello!
Dakota became a part of our family when she was six weeks old. At 10 weeks, my son took her for her vaccinations and first veterinarian visit as his dog. Our hearts were broken that day. The veterinarian wanted to take x-rays. The diagnosis: grade 4 patella luxation - Dakota's patellas or knee caps on BOTH legs are fixed on the side of her legs. The veterinarian recommended Dakota be put down or returned to the breeder as the veterinarian explained Dakota needs 2 surgeries approximately costing between $8,000 - $10,000.
Talk about being devastated. No "Oh what a cute puppy" or "She is such a good girl" or "See you at 12 weeks". Instead put her down or return her to the breeder. My son wanted a second opinion. Unfortunately, same grade 4 patella luxation was found. Sent Dakota to an orthopedic veterinarian. Orthopedic veterinarian findings were same as first veterinarian. He said she would need surgery now to cut tendons and ligaments so her legs will fully extend. Then once she is done growing a second surgery to cut the bone and make a ridge to hold the patella.
Tears, many tears have been shed and none of us can imagine putting her down. Even if returned to the breeder we know that would be her fate. The surgery cost is too much for us. We have been encouraged to try gofundme to raise the needed money to give Dakota the surgeries. We want to her to have a long life! We want her here with us!
Please help us give Dakota her day or rather days of love with my son and our family. Every dog has its day!
