We are starting this gofundme page to raise money for Everett Engelman’s Kidney transplant expenses.
How did this Happen?
As many of you may or may not know, Everett has been battling End Stage Renal Disease for years now! Everett was born with a heredity Kidney disease know as Polycystic Kidney Disease, he was unaware that he was a carrier until having a severe kidney infection about 16 years ago. He began hemodialysis about five years ago getting treatment three times a week for an estimated three and a half hours per treatment. At this point his only options are dialysis or transplant. A transplant is the only long-term treatment. But it difficult, expensive, and will require lifelong aftercare. So this page is a call for help. Please join us in Support of Everett.
Quality of Life!
Everett worked at United Grocers for four years then was hired on at Meyer-West which was later acquired by S.M.A. West (Southern Marketing Affiliates West) where he was 33 years. Everett has been disabled/retired for approx. 11 years.
Everett has always been an outdoor person, spending many years hunting in the mountain’s with great family and friends. He is literally the last person I can think of who would want to be inside, tied to a machine. Aside from the massive discomfort and pain involved with End Stage Renal Disease is unbelievability physically and mentally taxing. But Everett is a fighter. He has a strong support system of family and friends coming together to support this cause.
What does your donation go to?
Here’s the deal, Health care in the United States is expensive like really expensive. While some of the costs will be covered through insurance there are a million and one expenses associated with the day to day process of under going a Kidney transplant. These include insurance premiums, travel, food, housing prescriptions and other necessities. Your donations will go directly to Everett to help defray the endless expenses associated with his chronic illness.
The last few years there have been a crowd funding craze. So many people are asking for so many things. I’ve been wary of crowd funding for anything because we’ve always been a do it yourself family. So when I say we need your help please understand we don’t take it lightly.
