Everest 2018 - The Double Ascent

Donation protected

This coming April, I will be attempting to break a new record by becoming the first Briton to climb Mount Everest twice. I will be attempting to climb both the Nepalese and Tibetan sides of the mountain, consecutively. Only one person has ever accomplished this, a Mexican called David Liano. If I am successful, I will not only be the first Briton, I will also be the youngest ever.

The project started a year and a half ago, the dream being to set the record in April of this year. I had raised the money needed to cover the costs of the expedition along with an additional £30,000 for Chestnut Tree House. I was six weeks into the expedition when the Nepalese earthquake struck. I was incredibly lucky to come out of it alive and as you can probably imagine it was an incredibly tough time. Unfortunately, considering the devastating effects the earthquake had on Everest and of course Nepal, it wasn’t possible to continue with the expedition.

Although the 2015 project wasn’t as successful as we had all hoped, I still managed to raise a significant sum of money for the hospice. My plan now is to carry on with the original project and I hope to be back on Everest again in April 2018, setting the record!
