The Everest Assault Trek is all organised! Ken Hutt of the Rotary Club of Berry is going to lead a contingent of twenty Rotarians and friends to Mt Everest Base Camp in March/April next year, and you have the opportunity to support them.
The focus of the trek is to raise awareness and funding for the eradication of Polio, with each of Ken’s trekking supporters to raise at least $2000 for the PolioPlus campaign. Their GoFundMe pages are designed to help them raise this commitment.
Ken describes the trip as being a fantastic experience. “The country is very safe, the people are very friendly, and the mountain and valley scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. This trip will not involve camping as we will be staying in Tea Houses, providing comfortable accommodation with good quality food”.
“The trek will involve acclimatisation walks and rest days to allow our bodies to catch up with our ascent. You will need to be fit and healthy, but you won’t need to be a world class athlete,” Ken added.
For Ken, there is more to this venture than just leading a team to Everest Base Camp. He is taking on a bigger challenge for PolioPlus … by attempting a World Record paraglide assault from the summit of Everest. He currently holds the Australasian Record for the highest paraglide when he flew off the World’s sixth highest mountain in 2014.
