Even Through the Dark

My name is Richard Gatenby. I grew up in Sydney, Australia and am the founder of Hills District—a Facebook page that was created to provide young people with a safe place to discuss mental health issues, and as a way of promoting positive change in the local community. I have spent the last year and a half writing a book that details my own experience with depression, and what it was like to be there for others going through similar struggles. Even Through the Dark was written as a not-for-profit endeavour, and all proceeds are to be donated to beyondblue. Your donation would go entirely towards the publishing costs of the book. 

My only hope is that my words can have even the smallest impact on someone's life and that they help others to overcome their own personal battles. I invite you to join me as I recollect my experiences—the struggles, the fears, the hopes, and the dreams. The lives saved and the lives lost. My successes and victories; my failures and regrets. I invite you to experience things as I experienced them throughout the years of my adolescence and my time living under the pseudonym Hills District.
