Honoring Eva Schemberger's soul

Raven-haired Eva Schemberger was a horse trainer and riding instructor extraordinaire, and the lucky animals she tended and trained blossomed under her watchful and experienced eye. Born in Germany, Eva came to the US as a rider with the World Famous Lippizaner Show, thrilling audiences with the dramatic equine ballet called "airs above the ground." Eva met her German-born husband Fred -- a highly accomplished rider and trainer himself -- not in their home country but in the USA. Eva's beauty and intensity, Fred's irreverent sense of humor, and their mutual love for horses was a recipe for love. Together, they bought a  horse property in south Gastonia, and began their dream of having their own training and boarding business called "Smiling Horse Stables."  They even had their wedding  on horseback right on the property, with Eva in full wedding regalia, including heels (which do not fit well into stirrups, by the way). Now, eleven years after that joyful day, Fred is facing the loss of his wife, his colleague, partner, confidante, and best friend. Eva passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of June 22, 2017. Eva touched many lives -- two-legged and four-legged. Her willingness to give freely of her heart, her knowledge and her friendship was exceeded only by her dedication to the health, happiness and safety of the horses in her care. Let us all express our love and appreciation for Eva with a memorial in her name, and help Fred with the unexpected expenses and sudden loss of income that accompany Eva's passing. And let us all dream of her in Heaven, performing airs above the ground to a rapt audience.
