Living with ALS

Donation protected
I was diagnosed with ALS on June 25, 2018.  Over the past several months I have been adjusting mentally to living with ALS.  I was advised early on to create a GoFundMe account but was reluctant due to my discomfort with asking for this type of assistance, but a diagnosis like this really alters ones career path and income potential.  My main concerns are my children.  They are amazing, hard working students.  I've been able to address their needs moving forward, or so I think.  The time has come to focus on my needs.  I'll need to make my van wheelchair accessible so that my family and friends can cart me around.  I'll need to make adjustments to my house so I can safely live alone.  The biggest unknowns are medical expenses and a caregiver.  When will I need one and for how long?  And I suspect there will be other future expenses that I'm unaware of at this time.  I'm also going to make myself available for clinical trials which might create travel expenses if the trial is not in Chicago.  I have set my fundraising goal at $1 because most of my needs are unknown.  Any contribution will be helpful and appreciated.  I guarantee that this is not for a new fishing boat or Canadian fishing trip.  My days in a boat are over and I can only target small local fish.  A musky or northern pike would win the fight and rip the rod right out of my hands.  And given the quality of my rods and reels, I don't want them to turn into a lip ring on a musky.
