Most of you don’t know Jeanie Summers, so I will introduce her to you.
Jeanie has been a single mom for basically 39 years. She single handily raised two boys, worked at the same job, CIC, for 30+ years and managed to always have food on the table. Although, even that task was a hard struggle every day of her life. And just when she thought life couldn’t get much harder, she had to leave her family and friends at CIC a year and a half ago, due to multiple strokes… And to tope that off, she also had heart surgery 2 months ago. With only her 39 and 23 year boys to take care of her every single need, she relied on them more than ever. Financially, things could not get much worse for her, so she thought.
Saturday night, her oldest son, who was in the hospital for a routine blood clotting disorder, was rushed into an unplanned heart surgery. Chris, her son, did not make it through the surgery and died at Vanderbilt Hospital.
Now she is faced with the financial strain of making the minimal arrangements for Chris to be cremated and returned to her. She financially cannot have a service, which is fine with her. Her biggest issue is having his remains given to her and not held hostage by the crematory.
