Eugene's Brain Tumor Recovery

Donation protected
Eugene is one of the kindest and most servant-hearted people around.  He is always reaching out to take care of his little siblings and single mom. Eugene was married to Olesya on December 8, 2013. They constantly live out Jesus' love to one another and don't hesitate to love others just as well.

Eugene came home from work one night a little shaken up from some strange symptoms the couple didn't recognize. His right side started going numb and his speech was slurred. They decided to go to the ER, thinking it was just a weird, one-time thing. At the hospital, they found out that Eugene had a seizure. The seizure was caused by a brain tumor the size of a golf ball in the middle of his brain. The news of this came very suddenly and they quickly began the process of figuring out what the tumor is.

He went through a biopsy surgery on Jan 29 and they are currently still waiting for the results. The surgery went perfectly and everyone was so relieved that Eugene was recovering and okay. As the day went on, Eugene got really sleepy and couldn't stay awake. It seemed normal at first, but throughout the night, the doctors kept waking Eugene to check on him, and every time it would be harder and harder to wake him, until they couldn't wake him at all anymore.

Throughout this time, Eugene went through a few CT scans that revealed some bleeding that got worse and then stabilized in the tumor area. The bleeding created a lot of pressure in his brain which made him sleepy and later, unconscious. At this point, the stat nurse decided to send Eugene to the ICU where he could be closely monitored.

As soon as Eugene got to the ICU, the pressure in his brain pushed his brain down onto his brain stem. This could have killed Eugene instantly or caused major brain damage. His left pupil completely dilated and was unresponsive to light, and he started "posturing." Both of these are "late signs of brain damage."

He had to undergo emergency surgery to drain the fluid from his brain. No one could say if the surgery would be successful, or if it was, how much brain damage occurred. The word was spread for everyone to be praying for Eugene's healing and protection. Praise God, the surgery was successful, but we had to wait and see if any brain damage happened. Miraculously, Eugene woke up two days later with no signs of brain damage!

The doctors were amazed that he could stand up and walk on the first day. They have had nurses that saw him in the first day come back and tell them how happy they are that Eugene is okay, because when thy left for the night, they were expecting to come back to bad news.

He is still recovering in the ICU, but he is improving more and more every day. Now, Eugene and Olesya are waiting to hear about the results of the biopsy. We are all praying that the tumor is not life-threatening, not growing, not cancerous, or best of all, miraculously healed.

This young family is going through a very difficult time and have a long journey ahead. As they await to find out what kind of tumor it is, they are in need of all of our prayers and support. Any financial support we can give them will go towards medical expenses as Eugene is not able to work and Olesya is taking the time to take care of him as he recovers. The couple really appreciate all of the prayers, visits, kind words, encouraging stories, and financial support that they have already received. Please continue to pray and care for them throughout this time. Be blessed.
