Etta Trail

Donation protected

Hi, My name is Adrian Whitmore, President of the Sundance Chain Gang Mtn Bike Association (SCGMBA) . We are building a hiking/biking trail system in Sundance Wyoming.

We were asked by the Sundance White Ranch Park (SWRP) to build hiking and biking trails in the lands of the White Ranch which was donated in perpetuity to the public.

We built the 2.2 mile Outlaw trail as well the Sun Dance Trail .03 miles. In the month May 2021.

We worked in partnership with the Black Hills Trails folks for mechanized equipment. Three non-profits came together to give miles of smiles to a community, and fulfill parts of the dreams of Betty White.

We are asking you -the users, public, mtn bikers and hikers, outdoor nuts, dog walkers, etc.. to help continue the path.  SCGMBA is working with City of Sundance to get a new trail built on City land. It has begun in its first stages of recon and Council talks and legal paperwork to build a trail to connect to the (SWRP) Outlaw Trail. The trail is named Etta following the theme of the outlaws-Sundance and Butch and the ever present lady Etta Place- Which may not be her true name.

The monies raised for the trail are earmarked only for "Etta"- this trail is approximately 1.5 miles by initial recon. The signage will be designed to compliment the SWRP as well follow the wishes of the City of Sundance. With this $4000 goal achieved we can properly build a sustainable trail similar to Outlaw done in the same fashion with mech tools as seen above, albeit a bit more technical in bike nature.

This trail project is wholly dependent on funds received-- the quicker we get to cutting trail/money the quicker all of us get to use more trails to use. Many people have never seen this land, and the flowers in the spring are mesmerizing. Its only 4000 dollars and many trails are built for much more. We are simply looking for the rental time, fuels, tools, and signage.. Volunteers are not paid, but are fed. Any monies left after construction are for maintenance only.

This will be an outstanding addition to the community for access points near town to access the SWRP and to future development of a trail called The Hideout on Bureau of Land management (BLM) land. Baby steps as they say. Please support our community and our small club trying to make a big impact in non motorized use in our community. Think of the future and the kids, and their kids. Give them something so we can build them something. Thank you for your support.
