In the fall of 2014, little Ethan of Harrisburg, South Dakota, started having symptoms that left his mom and dad worried. He stopped breathing. After a few tests and then an MRI, the Lenhoff family knew they had a long road ahead.
Their little boy, who hadn't even celebrated his first birthday was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After surgery in Minneapolis and another at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, the tumor was removed and the Lehnoff's received the devastating news that their little baby had brain cancer. The diagnosis: Grade II Pilomyxoid Astrocytoma. Since the tumor was completely removed, there would be no need for chemo, or other treatments and the family would just watch and wait.
Ethan lost movement on the right side of his body from his second surgery, but continues to gain strength each day. On Tuesday, January 6th 2015, the Lenhoff's traveled back to Mayo for a routine MRI to make sure Ethan's tumor was still gone. They received the dreaded news that the tumor had returned and that Ethan would need to undergo another surgery and begin chemo after surgery.
This is not the Lenhoff family setting up this page. My name is Jessica and my daughter Kallie was also diagnosed with brain cancer about a year and a half ago. We don't live far from the Lenhoff family and when we found out about Ethan's diagnosis we wasted no time in connecting with this amazing family to help in any way we could. They have a long journey ahead and can use the extra help. Going through something like this is not easy. It's hard to juggle work schedules, finances, medical bills, travel, hotels, etc. Anything you can do to help this family would be greatly appreciated.
No child should ever have to go through something like this and for the parents, its even more difficult. Please consider donating to this family, knowing you are making a huge impact and difference in Ethan's journey.
