MATERNIDAD REVOLUCIONARIA: ¿Qué pasaría en el mundo si tod@s l@s bebés fueran recibid@s de formas amorosas, naturales y respetuosas?

Después de un traumático parto en el hospital, cuando me embaracé de nuevo decidí hacerme responsable de mi embarazo, parto y puerperio: busqué toda la ayuda y la información que necesité y me preparé a conciencia.

Tomar decisiones independientemente de lo que el sistema indica, y hacer caso a mis necesidades, instintos, sentimientos y opiniones, fue todo un reto.

Un reto que me hizo entender la necesidad de una revolución, de una MATERNIDAD REVOLUCIONARIA.

Y así fue como inició este proyecto, con la grabación de un video diario donde registré mi manera de vivir estos procesos.

A Sun la recibimos en casa, en compañía de mi compañero y de Uma, nuestra hija de 8 años, quien grabó el nacimiento de su hermana para este documental.

El parto de Sun ha sido la experiencia más poderosa de mi vida.

Después de un intenso puerperio, edité fragmentos de mi video diario, que luego compartí para pedir retroalimentación.

Ante las reacciones tan distintas, la pregunta: ¿Cómo viven estos procesos la mayoría de las mujeres? me llevó a investigar.

Poco a poco descubrí que la mayoría de las mujeres vive embarazos, partos y puerperios en condiciones de violencia obstétrica.

Mi nombre es Luz Herrera y me dedico a la realización, difusión y análisis de expresiones audiovisuales.

El documental MATERNIDAD REVOLUCIONARIA y su página web son un proyecto enfocado en ofrecer información y recursos para que cada vez más mujeres tengamos la posibilidad de elegir la forma en la que queremos parir, es decir, con libertad, conciencia y dignidad ante el sistema médico.

Actualmente tenemos mi videodiario, el borrador del guión, más de 25 entrevistas y otros materiales fundamentales.

Lo que sigue es la etapa de desarrollo del documental, es decir, terminar el guión y realizar el teaser promocional para conseguir una casa productora.

REVOLUTIONARY MOTHERHOOD: What would happen in the world if all the babies were received in loving, safe, and dignified ways?

After a traumatic first birth in the hospital, when I got pregnant again, I decided to personally take responsibility for my pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. I looked for the necessary information and help and prepared myself thoroughly.

Making decisions regardless of what the system indicates, and paying attention to my needs, instincts, feelings and opinions was quite a challenge - a challenge that made me understand the need for a revolution, for a REVOLUTIONARY MOTHERHOOD. That is how this project began, with the documentation of a daily video diary where I recorded my way of living throughout these processes.

We received my daughter, Sun, at home with the sole assistance of my partner and Uma, our 8-year-old daughter, who recorded the birth of her sister for this documentary. Sun's birth has been the most powerful experience of my life.

After an intense postpartum, I edited fragments of my video diary, shared them, and asked for feedback. Faced with such different reactions, I asked the question: How do most women experience these processes? This pondering led me to investigate.

Little by little, I discovered that the majority of women's pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum experiences are treated in conditions of obstetric violence.

My name is Luz Herrera and I am dedicated to the production, dissemination and analysis of audiovisual expressions. The documentary REVOLUTIONARY MOTHERHOOD and its website give shape to a project focused on offering information and resources to women so that they have the possibility to choose the way in which we want to give birth - with freedom, consciousness and dignity when facing the medical system.

Currently, I have my video diary, a draft of the script, more than 25 interviews and other essential materials needed to create this documentary. What follows is the development stage of the documentary, that is, finishing the script and making the promotional teaser that will be sent to a production company.
