See Sydney Spike Again

Donation protected

Sydney Fowler is a beautiful, vibrant, kind and determined 13 year old girl from Mount Pleasant, SC. In fact, Syd might just be the most kind-hearted and hard working teenager I've ever met. She has an infectious smile, a larger than life laugh, and the biggest heart God could fit into her little body. Syd has been a volleyball teammate of my daughters' for the past 4 years.

Not long before Christmas 2018, doctors discovered that a staph infection seeded in Sydney’s spine, penetrated her vertebrae and compressed her spinal cord. She underwent two emergency spine surgeries at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Her spinal cord was compressed for 13 hours, leaving Syd with limited sensation and no mobility from the lower chest down.

Watching a beautiful, funny, athletic, larger-than-life child suffer indescribable pain and lose the ability to walk are beyond comprehension. Syd's parents, Jeremy and Christi Fowler, are still trying to wrap their heads around what has happened and the scary future that lies ahead. Luckily, the Fowler's have amazing Faith and Strength, and are quite possibly, the most positive people I've ever met. As can be witnessed in Syd's attitude and determination, the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Sydney is currently receiving some of the country’s best physical and occupational therapy in an intense rehabilitation center in Atlanta, GA and the Fowlers' prayer is that she will, with time and God’s help, be fully restored to perfect health.

As Christi said recently, "Sydney is, without a doubt, the strongest, bravest person I know. She is demonstrating more grace and grit than should ever be expected from a 13-year old. Her positive attitude, sense of humor and faith that she’ll not only walk again, but play volleyball again, is something to see."

Please take a moment to consider donating to Syd's cause and help a family whose lives have been drastically altered over the past month. As anyone can imagine, the multiple surgeries, countless MRI's, weeks long stay at MUSC, and the current extended rehab stay in Atlanta have added up exponentially. On top of the medical bills, they are in need of extensive work to make their home more accessible for Syd when she returns home.

The Fowler family would literally be the first ones to help anyone in need. Now is our time to help them and help get Syd back on her feet again....literally and figuratively.

Proceeds will specifically help the Fowler family with the purchase of an elevator for their home. As discharge from rehab nears, the elevator is primary concern at this time, as Sydney will not be able to come home until this is installed.

Thank You So Much!
